The Women’s “Press Refresh” Programme is supported by the Department for the Economy and delivered in partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC) and Women in Business (WIB).

If you want to explore a return to work and would be interested in pursuing a career in the Tech sector, this programme is for you.

Maybe you haven’t thought that the Tech sector is for you – this programme can open you up to the opportunities that exist in this rapidly growing industry and give you the skills, confidence and know-how to advance into this sector.

No previous experience is required, and to help you decide if this is the right path for you the application process simply includes a psychometric test.

The programme is a part-time 17week training programme (For full timetable visit www.pressrefresh.co.uk). Any Childcare needs will be discussed, and we will endeavour to support a level of costs. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, training will be online through a virtual classroom.

We will engage with employers through the course of the programme and on completion we will work with participants to help secure an interview, where possible.

Applications open on Monday 11th October 2021 and close on Monday 25th October 2021 with 20 places being awarded on Wednesday 26th October 2021

Essential criteria:  You must hold a degree in any discipline

Desirable criteria: Two years post-graduate workplace experience

In the event that a large number of applications are received we reserve the right to enhance the minimum criteria.

Applications must be submitted by noon Monday 25th October 2021 and assessments must be completed by 12.00 midnight Monday 25th October 2021.

When you successfully complete the programme you will gain work ready skills, new CVs, interview and communications skills and resilience strategies alongside qualifications that will prepare you to seek employment in the field of Data Analytics. 

Press Refresh is designed to support you back into your career by building back your confidence while quickly transferring knowledge and upskilling you in a range of practical data analysis/ visualisation tools and techniques.

The programme includes Mentor support from female role models in the Tech sector.

Industry qualifications and certifications gained by completing the course include:

  • MTA: Introduction to Programming Using Python - learn how to write, debug, maintain and document code
  • MTA: Database Admin Fundamentals - learn how to operate relational databases, queries and database security
  • Prince Agile Technology - provides structure, governance and controls when working with technology concepts, methods and techniques
  • PowerBI – turning data into coherent, visually immersive and interactive insights for business decision making

 The selection process will entail an online application psychometric assessment.  There is no preparation required to undertake the assessment. This is a user-friendly tool designed to help define and measure participants’ personality preferences, natural aptitudes, abilities and motivational interests. Please allow 45 minutes to complete the assessment.

Successful applicants will require appropriate IT access in order to link to the online tuition. Webcams and mics can be provided and there may be an option to borrow a laptop from the college.

You will be required to forward a copy of your degree certificate with your application form if you are successful on gaining a place on the course. If you cannot forward a copy of your degree certificate, you must provide evidence that you have attained a degree. This must be submitted with the college enrolment form.
